Ancient Alien is a 50 minute computer animated electronic musical, released on VHS video, as well as for TV broadcast. The soundtrack features music from Deep Space Network, HIA, Macrocosm, MLO, Move D, Orbital, Spacetime Continuum, Scanner, Stephen Kent, Vuemorph, Tetsu Inoue & Atom Heart.

The 17 animators (originating from ten different countries) storyboarded, designed, animated, directed and edited their work in close proximity to each other at the National Centre for Computer Animation in Bournemouth, UK.

Throughout the production of this project we have ensured that the music and the images gel together. The connection between these two media has been achieved in a variety of different ways. One method used was developing Synae, a proprietary piece of software which analyses electronic music to behaviourally define a 3D animation in a way that relates directly to the features in the music.

Ancient Alien has taken 2 years from conception to completion and has involved the efforts of over 50 people.
